My sewing machine embroiders simple text. Can this be used instead of the morsbag label?

I would say yes, people have done the same in the past. Some sophisticated sewing / embroidery machines will scan images and there are .rtf files available on this website under “Resources”

The rule I was given was that the labels must say Morsbags and they must be durable and washable.
